Andreas Hoivold, who is presently living in Kristiansand, Norway, is a familiar face in the world of poker. He has a good number of money finishes to his name, some of which deserve a mention.
In the No-Limit Hold’em event of the MasterClassics of Poker & Lido International Tournament held on November 5, 2005, Andreas Hoivold finished ninth and won prize money of $1,836. A historic moment for him came on May 19, 2006, when the No-Limit Hold’em event of Ladrokes Nordic Challenge Poker Tournament was held. The event, in which Andreas Hoivold won $34,500, marked his maiden first-place finish. On Jul 23, 2006, he bagged another $4,680 from Event 34- No-Limit Hold'em at the 37th Annual World Series of Poker (WSOP). The next significant money finish for Andreas Hoivold was on December 15 of the same year, when the No-Limit Hold’em Grand Final event of Ladbrokes Poker Million V was conducted. In the event, he finished third to take home a large booty of $250,000.
Andreas Hoivold made another first-place finish on March 11, 2007, in the European Poker Tour (EPT) Main Event No-Limit Hold’em and bagged a whopping sum of $880,737. His next money finish was at Event 21 - WSOP Shootout – No-Limit Hold'em at the 38th Annual World Series of Poker, from which he earned $6,757. He claimed $6,634 in prize money by participating in Event 53 - WSOP Shootout - Limit Hold'em of the same tournament that was held on July 3, 2007. The next significant instance when Andreas Hoivold was in the money was on October 10, when the EPT No-Limit Hold’em event of the Baden Poker Festival 2007/EPT Event - Season 4 was held. In the event, he finished 22nd and took home $16,855.
Andreas Hoivold, nicknamed “Theah” in Poker world, is also known as the “Cartoon Collector”. He had the largest comic collection in Norway, but sold them to become a full-time poker player. Interestingly, his card marker is a Mickey Mouse. Andreas Hoivold greatly admires Daniel Negraneu, Doyle Brunson, Phil Ivey, Gus Hansen, and Åge Spets, among professional poker players.
